The image on the left was printed on uncoated inkAID RTC Unryu White (80 gsm). The image on on the right was printed on the same paper coated with inkAID Clear Semi-Gloss precoat.
Basic instructions for using inkAID are:
- Stir
- Brush On
- Air dry
- Print!
It’s that simple to to prepare any surface for printing and it cleans up with soap and water. There are more detailed instructions for using each of the inkAID products:

Stephen Schaub, Hybrid Artist of Indian Hill Imagesworks in Vermont, has produced a very informative video demonstrating his technique for hand coating papers with inkAID.
Mary Taylor, Marshfield Hills, Massachusetts, has produced an excellent 80 minute video, Beyond The Digital Print,which shows four techniques for producing custom made ink jet substrates using inkAID including a flexible textured surface, a digital emulsion skin, toned black paper, and preparing and printing on sheet aluminum. In addition to precoating custom materials, inkAID allows adding an inkjet printed image to the composition when working with paintings, collages or other mixed media. The coatings are compatible with dye and pigment inks.
