Golden Gel Topcoat Gloss w/UVLS provides a water based non-removable topcoat which absorbs ultra violet light to protect against fading of both dye and pigment based ink jet inks or any other elements below the topcoat. It provides a durable, water resistant finish and can also be used to create a transparent barrier upon which paint or other materials can be applied, to build texture, and to modify gloss. The gloss coating dries to a clear, highly reflective surface. As with all top coatings, it may alter the saturation of colors in the image.
Using Over Water Sensitive Materials, Such as Inkjet Prints and Watercolors
When applying over water sensitive coatings such as inkAID Clear Gloss, Clear Gloss Type II, Clear Semi-Gloss, and Clear Matte it is important to test the application before proceeding. If testing shows that the coating or printed image will be easily damaged it is recommended that a sealing coat of Golden Archival Varnish or Golden MSA Varnish first be applied before the Gel Topcoat.
Golden Gel Topcoats w/UVLS can be applied to water resistant inkAID coatings such as the White Matte and Translucent Gloss products. Do not apply Golden Archival Varnish or Golden MSA Varnish on either the inkAID White Matte or Translucent Gloss coatings as this will damage the printed image.
For additional information regarding the use of Golden Artist Colors products over inkjet prints refer to Just Paint Issue #14.
Directions For Use:
Apply as is using a foam brush, bristle brush, roller, or other tools. Golden Gel Topcoats have a thick consistency that will retain textures that will relax slightly as the topcoat dries. Apply carefully to avoid entraining air and generating foam. Thinning with water may be done to modify viscosity. Always test before applying to the printed work.
