Quick Overview

Title: Creating a Textured Surface on a Dimensionally Stable Material

In this tutorial Mary Taylor demonstrates how to create a custom textured printing surface on a spunbonded polyester material, Reemay, or spunbonded polyethylene, Tyvek. A sheet of Tyvek is textured using vinyl spackle. The textured surface is then coated with inkAID Iridescent Gold and Pearl to provide a glowing print on the vinyl spackle. Before printing, the prepared substrate is tested for thickness using an innovative "slot ruler". The finished image is then glued to a backing board and the edges are painted to carry the image around to the back board. Run time - 18 minutes. Includes resource document to find all required materials. Download the License Agreement and a Note about Safety.

Title: Creating a Textured Surface on a Dimensionally Stable Material

In this tutorial Mary Taylor demonstrates how to create a custom textured printing surface on a spunbonded polyester material, Reemay, or spunbonded polyethylene, Tyvek. This technique allows artists to create a three dimensional visual effect that can enhance specific parts of the image. In Mary's image, "Golden Acre", this is used to create the impression of a rustling field of grass and flowing water.
